Law for Businesses

I am a business geek at heart. For as long as I can remember I have absorbed myself in the world of commerce through books, podcasts, and through starting and running my own businesses. This means that when we work together you get the benefit of a lawyer with the sort of commercial common sense that is in precious short supply.

When I work with your business I take your problem and I make it my own. That stands true whether you're in the middle of court proceedings, or whether you need some advice on a supplier dispute, or if you just need somebody to update your company documents. I take the difficult, mundane tasks off your to-do list so that you can get on with making your business the success you want it to be.

Best of all I can help you in one of two ways. If you have a solicitor then you can ask to instruct me through them. Or, if you want to benefit from some potential cost savings, then you can instruct me directly under the direct access scheme of which I am part. If you want to contact me directly for a fixed-fee quote then please complete my enquiry form and I will get back to you.

(More information on the direct access scheme from my regulator can be found here.)

Here are the areas of law in which I practise:

  • General commercial law

  • General civil law (including setting aside judgments)

  • Contract law

  • Sale of goods law

  • Company law

  • Banking law (mortgages, guarantees, etc)

  • Landlord and Tenant (both residential and commercial)

Here are examples of what I can do for your business:

Business Disputes

If you end up in a dispute with a customer or supplier then I can do the following:

  • Represent you at trial or at any hearing.

  • Advise you about challenging a county court judgment entered against you.

  • Complete any paperwork required, such as Particulars of Claim or a Defence.

  • Advise you on the likely outcome of the dispute if it were to go to trial.

  • Advise you on the best negotiated settlement in all of the circumstances.

  • Write letters for you to send to your opponent in order to spell out your position with the backing of legal authority.

General Legal Tasks

You want to make sure that your business is rock solid from a legal standpoint. I can add value to your business by doing any of the following:

  • Review and update your terms and conditions so that your business is protected and so that your customers know where they stand when they buy from you.

  • Review or write contracts between you and your suppliers or customers so that you can be sure of your rights and obligations and that they will be legally enforceable.

  • Assist with amendment of company documents such as the articles of association.

  • Advise on corporate governance issues relevant to the directors of the company.

  • Advise on day-to-day issues arising for the company.

How to instruct me

You do not need a solicitor in order to instruct me to work for you. Please contact me using this form, the chat box below, or you can call on 0121 286 6550. Initial advice is always free. If you are considering asking me to work for you on a direct access basis then I ask that you read my direct access FAQs first.
